Be It Ever So Humble...He Got It For a Paperclip!!
Holy canoli, Canadian blogger Kyle MacDonald at One Red Paperclip has done it!! One year exactly from the day he first offered a colorful piece of twisted metal as a bartering chip, he has -- in 14 moves -- successfully traded up to an actual bricks-and-mortar HOUSE! Who'd a thunk it?
The town of Kipling, Saskatchewan has accepted a role in a Corbin Bernson movie in exchange for the abode (not sure how that one works), apparently in the spirit of the town's two mottos: "Where If Becomes Reality" and "Embracing the 21st Century."
This is one of those "Blair Witch" why-the-hell-didn't-I-think-of-that moments!
Congrats, Kyle!!

Jes, I have followed this gentleman since he only had An Instant Party. I thought he was nuts to trade for the KISS snowball, but then I don't have the skills to work up from a paper clip to a house. Pure Unbridled Capitalism.
Reminds me of two things:
1. The Bloom County comic when Don Trump's brain was surgically implanted in Bill the Cat and lost everything to Ivana. He started with a borrowed lollipop from Binkley and worked his way back up to a fortune just from that...
2. The short story "Or All the Seas with Oysters" by Avram Davidson in which paper clips are alive and grow slowly through stages into hangers and bicycles.... eeek, that scary me!
